Communication artist Wes Talley has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. He has fond memories of sitting at his grandmother’s table creating artwork, while in high school he spent hours doodling in the margins of his textbooks and binders. Originally from northern Illinois, Wes Talley was home-schooled by his mother for most of his young life. As a teenager, his family moved to central Minnesota. There he attended a short workshop to study sculpture in Winona. When it came time to go to college, Wes knew he wanted to do something artistic with his life, so the Communication Art & Design programme at Alexandria Technical College seemed like a logical choice. There he honed his skills and learned new ones in other traditional and digital art forms. His work won five silver and one gold ADDY awards and in 2006, after graduating with an Associate of Applied Science degree, he began working as a graphic designer at Lakes Area Graphix & Signworx in Kensington. During this time he also worked as a freelance typesetter and book cover designer. He soon left the company to pursue a more serious career but also continued to freelance online. In 2009 he moved to Quito, Ecuador, where he married a woman who shared many of his tastes and inspired him. In 2011, he received a triple certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the National Polytechnic School (EPN). Wes currently lives in Quito with his wife and three children and works for a multi-million dollar international company.
